Floor Coverings – Pre-Work Inspection Checklist

This checklist ensures that the home is prepared for the installation of parquet, hardwood, or vinyl flooring by verifying that the site is clean, the floor is level and properly prepped, and all materials and plans are ready. By addressing these items, the team ensures a smooth installation process with minimal delays or complications.

Verify the plans

Receive the purchase order

Verify the color selection

Ensure the jobsite is clean and free of debris

Clean and broom-sweep the house

Clean and barricade the driveway

Ensure temporary handrails, bracing, and other safety measures are in place

Verify the floor is level with no more than 1/4 inch deviation over 32 inches

Clean the floor thoroughly

Fill and sand subflooring cracks to create a level surface

Ensure there are no bumps, overlaps, or other issues in the subfloor or slab

Confirm the subflooring or slab is dry
