Gutters – Final Inspection Checklist

This checklist ensures that guttering installation is completed to high standards of quality and functionality before the trade contractor leaves the jobsite. It includes verifying the secure attachment of gutters and downspouts, proper water flow, and protection of surrounding features. Additionally, it emphasizes site cleanliness and ensuring all components, such as splashblocks and splashguards, are correctly installed.

Inspect windows to confirm they are intact and undamaged

Verify trim and siding are undamaged

Ensure sod, if present, is undamaged

Securely attach gutters to the house

Ensure gutters and downspouts contain only minor piecing

Verify there are no holes or gaps in the gutters

Install an adequate number of downspouts

Securely attach downspouts to the house, ensuring no gaps or bows

Ensure downspouts terminate no more than 6 inches from grade

Extend downspouts through the deck if necessary

Cut downspout holes through the deck smoothly and to the correct size

Install splashblocks or ensure they are in the garage

Verify water flow from downspouts is correct

Install splashguards in valleys

Clean the site and ensure it is free of debris
