Painting (Rough) – Final Inspection Checklist

This checklist ensures that all rough painting work, including both interior and exterior, meets quality and coverage standards. It focuses on uniformity, proper caulking, and the protection of surrounding areas. Additionally, it ensures the site is clean and all painted surfaces are free from defects.

Ensure exterior wall paint has uniform coverage with no light spots

Verify exterior trim paint has uniform coverage, consistent color, and no paint on walls

Inspect the entire exterior paint job from a 6-foot distance to confirm there are no visible defects

Ensure no paint is on windows, brick, stucco, or other areas

Clean and paint metal lintels black with rust-proof paint

Verify interior walls are smooth with no drips, runs, lumps, bumps, color variations, or streaking

Ensure interior walls have uniform coverage after the first coat is sprayed

Repair all rough spots in interior trim, and fill and sand nail holes smooth

Apply the first coat of trim paint

Clean excess trim paint off walls

Remove overspray from windows, including glass and aluminum

Ensure there is no damage to floors from spills or drips

Verify vinyl is undamaged

Caulk all interior wood

Caulk all exterior wood

Caulk gaps between the brickmold and brick

Caulk all thresholds

Inspect windows to confirm they are intact and unbroken

Verify tubs, sinks, and showers are undamaged

Clean and broom-sweep the house, ensuring it is free of debris
